Pultruded Grating Products
DURADEK®
is a standard pultruded grating product stocked by distributors
nationwide. It is available with individual bearing bars in
either 1" or 1-1/2" "I"
shapes or a 2" "T" shape. DURADEK® is a flame retardant product
utilizing a polyester resin. The bearing bars use both
longitudinal (glass roving) and multidirectional (glass mat)
reinforcements as well as a synthetic surfacing veil to provide
unequaled corrosion resistance.
DURAGRID®
custom grid or grating systems are designed to accommodate
specific applications that cannot effectively be met by a
standard fiberglass grating. DURAGRID® offers the customer
options such as selection of open space, bar shape, cross-rod
placement, custom fabrication, custom resin or color.
DURAGRID®
Heavy Duty
fiberglass grating is a pultruded bar type grating that can be
designed and used like traditional metal grates. The solid
individual bearing bars are designed to take heavy wheel traffic
such as fork lifts, tow motors and truck traffic. Heavy duty
grating is constructed of the same type composite used in the
other DURAGRID® products.
DURAGRID®
Phenolic Grating
is a dramatic innovation for markets where fire safety is a
major concern; offering superior resistance to flame and high
temperature with low smoke and toxic fume emissions. The
nonflammable nature of phenolics enable phenolic grating to
withstand higher temperatures than polyester or vinyl ester for
extended periods of time without major structural damage.
Combined with low thermal conductivity, this provides fire
protection not available with alternate materials. DURAGRID®
Phenolic Grating is the first composite grating to receive U.S.
Coast Guard approval! It is accepted for use in locations and
applications as allowed in the U.S.C.G. Policy File Memorandum
2-98 for fire retardant grating meeting structural fire
integrity Level 2(L2).
Molded Fiberglass Products
DURAGRATE®
DURAGRATE®
molded fiberglass grating is the chemical resistant flooring
choice for many industrial applications. The high resin content
(65%) provides long maintenance-free performance.
The strong
mesh grating panel allows efficient on-site cutting to minimize
grating waste. Molded grating is significantly lighter in weight
than metallic gratings.
Standard
DURAGRATE® grating has a concave profile on the upper surface
for skid resistance. Grit tops are available upon request.
Pultruded Flooring Products

SAFPLANK®
SAFPLANK® is a system of 12" and
24" wide fiberglass panels designed to interlock for a
continuous solid surface. This product is intended to replace
wood, aluminum or steel planks in environments where corrosion
or rotting creates costly maintenance problems or unsafe
conditions. SAFPLANK® provides safe walkways in electrical
applications because of its low conductivity and non-sparking
features.
SAFPLANK® is available in 2" deep planks in either 12" or 24"
wide sections. All stocked panels are gritted and are available
in 20' and 24' lengths. Other lengths are available upon
request. The decking system has a 100-pound per square foot
rating at 4-foot spans with less than a ¼” deflection.
SAFPLANK® may be ordered with either an anti-skid grit surface
or a smooth surface for non-pedestrian applications. Routed or
drilled top openings in the surface are available by special
order.
SAFDECK®
SAFDECK® is a system of 24" wide fiberglass panels designed to
overlap for a continuous solid surface. SAFDECK® is intended to
replace wood, aluminum or steel decking in environments where
corrosion or rotting creates costly maintenance problems or
unsafe conditions.
SAFDECK® is available in 1-1/8" deep panels in 24" widths. The
decking system is designed to be a one-for-one replacement for
plywood and has a 60-pound per square foot rating at 3-foot
spans with less than a ¼” deflection

Fiberglass Structural Shapes and Plate
EXTREN®
EXTREN®
is a proprietary combination of fiberglass reinforcements and
thermosetting polyester or vinyl ester resin systems. It is
produced in more than 100 standard shapes and all shapes have a
surface veil to protect against glass fibers penetrating the
resin surface in service and to increase corrosion and UV
resistance.
EXTREN® is offered in three series designed for different
environments and applications.
SERIES 500
An all-purpose series utilizing
an isophthalic polyester resin system with a UV
inhibitor. Color: Olive Green
SERIES 525
An all-purpose series utilizing
a fire retardant isophthalic polyester resin system with a UV
inhibitor. Color: Slate Gray (plus
certain handrail and fixed ladder components in yellow)
SERIES 625
A premium series both fire
retardant and highly corrosion resistant utilizing a vinyl ester
resin system with a UV inhibitor. Color: Beige
Handrail &
Ladder Systems
SAFRAIL®
SAFRAILTM
fiberglass handrails are industrial/commercial railing systems
for stair rails, platform/walkway handrails and guardrails.
SAFRAILTM
systems are fabricated from pultruded fiberglass components
produced by Strongwell and molded thermoplastic connectors.
SAFRAILTM
systems are particularly well-suited to corrosive environments
like those found in industrial, chemical and wastewater
treatment plants as well as commercial structures with urban and
salt air corrosion.
Round Handrail System
The
round fiberglass handrail system is ideal for any high traffic
area where handrail is needed. The round rails are easy to grip
and 90º molded corners eliminate sharp edges. The handrail
system meets OSHA strength requirements with a 2:1 factor of
safety with a 5-foot maximum post spacing. Internally bonded
fiberglass connectors result in no visible rivets or metal
parts. The handrail system includes a UV inhibitor for
additional resistance to ultraviolet degradation and corrosion.
Ladders & Cages
SAFRAILTM
fiberglass ladders and ladder cages mounted on the sides of
tanks are a common sight in a wide range of industries all
across the country. These systems have been in continuous use
for more than 20 years in chemical plants and other corrosive
environments. Even in immersion applications, fiberglass has
outlasted aluminum and steel and required little or no
maintenance.
Custom Fiberglass Products
A
custom pultrusion is a pultruded product customized in one or
more of the following ways to meet a customer's specific
requirement:
Shape
Virtually
any constant cross-section part can be pultruded.
Resin
Matrix
Standard
resin systems can be modified or special resins used to address
such needs as elevated temperatures or special environments.
Typical resins include polyesters, vinyl esters, epoxies and
phenolics.
Reinforcements
Typical reinforcements are fiberglass or carbon fibers in
multi-filament strands, mat, woven fabrics or stitched fabric.
Other reinforcement types and forms are possible.
Composite
Design
The
selection of the resin mix, the type and form of reinforcements,
and the placement of reinforcements within the composite are all
ways a composite design can be customized.
