Two More Reasons to Attend ACMA's "Composites in the Capital"
[Posted: 04/16/08]
Rep. Darleen Hooley (D-OR) will speak at the opening breakfast and Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) will be the luncheon speaker at ACMA's "Composites in the Capital" National Lobby Day on Wednesday, May 21st. During her nearly 12 years in Congress, Rep. Hooley has been a strong supporter of the composites industry, helping ACMA secure reasonable regulation under EPA's MACT standard and OSHA's flammable liquid spray fire safety regulation. Congressman Wilson serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and the Committee on Education and Labor – where he is Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections.
Come to Washington, D.C. and support the composites industry by participating in "Composites in the Capital" (National Lobby Day), May 20-22. ACMA will make appointments for members to visit their representatives and senators. For more information and/or to register, click here.

Combustible Dust Explosion and Fire Prevention Act
[Posted: 03/31/08]
The House Education and Labor Committee held a hearing on March 12, to examine H.R. 5522, the new Combustible Dust Explosion and Fire Prevention Act. If passed, the legislation would require certain technical and management resources that are not available to smaller companies. In recent correspondence with House leaders, ACMA argued that Congress should provide OSHA with the resources needed to work with stakeholders so that regulations protect workers while still allowing smaller companies to make products and employ people in their communities.
