Responsibilities:
The qualified candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and manufacturing support of radomes, including ground based composite and metal space frame, shipboard, airborne and submarine radomes, precision reflectors and other composite material products
Must be able to design and proof composite molds, develop material solutions using the most appropriate resin systems, prepare materials and other composites, to create and evaluate oven cure cycles, and to evaluate cost versus performance trade-offs for different composite materials
Will be using mechanical design software including Inventor™ 3-D or Solid Works models and AutoCAD™ 2-D drawings, and developing Task Lists and bills of material (BOM) for customer projects
Will conduct Finite Element Modeling of composite materials
Will occasionally be called upon to create and present information for Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM) and to prepare Customer Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP)
Assist in maintaining and improving engineering standards, procedures, reference libraries, Inventor™ 3-D models, reference BOMs, and Task Lists
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or related field from an accredited institution required
Master’s degree and Professional Engineer (PE) highly desirable
Minimum of five years experience in composite material design required
Radome or reflector related design experience highly desirable
Experience with Solidworks™ or Inventor™ and AutoCAD™, and Autodesk Vault or PDM Works and experience with large and complex CAD models will be needed
Preference given for Inventor™ modeling experience
Must have a firm grasp of document and revision control
Experience with PDM Works (preferred) or Autodesk Vault™ highly desirable
Excellent computer skills, particularly understanding of Windows™ interface, navigating a network, file organization, making back-ups, email literacy, and Excel™ and spreadsheet literacy
Understanding of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) systems required
Understanding of Visual™ operating system highly desirable
Must have the capability to drive a design from concept to detail drawings, assembly drawings and BOM, to prototyping to production, including the ability to generate multiple design concepts based on a given set of requirements and to identify trade-offs
Must be able to complete assigned projects on time and within budget and with adherence to engineering standards, including Item Master, BOMS, modeling architecture, software libraries, task lists, and related procedures

Requirements:

2-5 years experience designing, analyzing, and testing spacecraft structures
A minimum of 2 years experience in the analysis of composite structures using utilizing database and allowable properties. Experience should include the application of finite element methods and the assessment of failure mechanisms such as rupture, yield, buckling, fatigue and fracture. Experience with structural composite design and optimization using Hypermesh and Optistruct is desired.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to take designs resulting from FE and optimization-based analysis through to completed 3D models and manufacture-able final designs
Strong knowledge of stress and deflection analysis of structural systems, using strength of materials hand calculations and Opti-struct finite element analysis software is required
Experience with the design and analysis of joints containing mechanical fasteners, adhesives, welds, and composite/metallic interfaces is desired
Strong knowledge of composite manufacturing techniques and typical aerospace materials
Specific experience with the design and analysis of composites preferred
Design experience with a strong knowledge of SolidWorks
Knowledge of CATIA, ProE, FEMAP, Matlab, and Mathcad a plus
