AXEL Plastics, an ISO 9001 certified additives and coatings company in Woodside, New York is seeking a Senior R&D Chemist. This dynamic scientist should enjoy multi-tasking in a small business environment, reporting directly to the Technical Director.

The individual should ideally have a Ph.D. in polymer or organic chemistry with a background in formulation of additives and/or coatings for the plastics industry; extensive work experience with both thermoplastics and thermosets is desirable. Responsibilities: Oversee Quality Control including troubleshooting, rework and waste management within the scope of the ISO 9001 Quality System. Work with our manufacturing team to optimize production processes. Handle raw material and packaging supplier relationships and particularly fulfill the role as chemical compliance officer in charge of preparing and updating MSDS, technical data sheets, labeling, and customer specifications, keeping abreast of domestic and international regulatory reporting such as REACH and GHS. Interface with our Technical Sales Department to respond to customer inquiries with some occasional travel. Also expected is collaborating as well as contributing directly to R&D with hands-on bench top projects.
