Frank Cassis Award

An important part of this event is the presentation honoring the 2009 recipient of the Dr. Frank A. Cassis Award. The Dr. Frank A. Cassis Award was created to recognize “exceptional achievement in the invention, promotion and growth of the industry.” The 2009 recipient is Gary Davis. Gary retired from Gold Shield, Inc. after many years in the industry. He will be recognized on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, for his achievements and continual support of the industry - even to this day. Mr. Davis will also provide remarks on HMD. Dr. Joseph M. Plecnik, Ph.D., P.E. was the 2007 Frank Cassis Award winner. Dr. Plecnik has an impressive resume and over 30 years of service to the FRP composites industry as a consultant, designer and educator. He is considered a leading designer of freestanding fiberglass structures for the United States Government and is considered by many to be the world’s leading engineer regarding the effect on fiberglass structures by seismic events/activity.
