  1. Regulatory and Legislative Support
ACMA vigorously lobbies both Congress and regulatory agencies such as EPA and OSHA on issues affecting composites manufacturers such as:
    • Supporting the scientifically defensible characterization of styrene health effects
    • Promoting reasonable interpretation and enforcement of the EPA MACT rule
    • Supporting the use and development of accurate emission factors
    • Supporting sound and feasible control requirements for fire and explosion hazards

  2. Market Development and Growth
ACMA's Composites Growth Initiative works to expand the use of composites in many market segments, including aerospace, energy, construction, recreation, transportation, and others. For example, ACMA has:
    • Expanded the use of composites in the International Building Code
    • Completed a first draft and began finalizing a design standard for pultruded composites used in construction
    • Championed the development of design guide specifications for strengthening and repairing concrete structures using FRP
    • Educated legislators, engineers, and specifiers on the benefits of composites in infrastructure renewal

  3. Risk Communications
ACMA's Risk Communications Program gives owners and managers the tools they need to inform and reassure their employees and plant neighbors about chemical health risks. The kit includes customizable presentations, an informational video and printed materials in both English and Spanish. The program is free to members.
