ACMA Announces Changes for COMPOSITES Show

July 16, 2009 (Arlington, Va.) -- The American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) today announced that their annual conference and trade show will now be called COMPOSITES, THE Composites Exhibition and Convention. The theme for COMPOSITES 2010, to be held in Las Vegas, February 9-11, 2010, will be “Discover the Future of Composites Today.”   The changes reflect the importance of attracting all segments of the industry, including end-users, to one premier event each year and a renewed focus on emerging markets.

For the past two years, the event had been called COMPOSITES+POLYCON, but changing the name to COMPOSITES allows ACMA to convey the all-encompassing scope of the largest composites event in North America.  In addition to the core educational programming and products and services that attendees and exhibitors have come to expect, this year’s show will include a focus on emerging markets, high-performance materials and energy.

“The composites industry is changing and COMPOSITES 2010 is poised to help attendees and exhibitors prepare for the future,” says ACMA President Monty Felix. “As companies diversify their operations and their products, they’ll be looking for new opportunities in both traditional and developing markets.  COMPOSITES 2010 offers a single venue for manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and end users to converge and plan for future success.”

New this year is a focus on programming and networking important to the end users of composite materials and additional networking opportunities focused around particular attendee interests. Program and education sessions will include an emphasis on emerging markets such as energy and high-performance materials. There will also be a main stage in the exhibit hall to allow exhibitors and others to present to all attendees, as well as an industry product awards competition.

ACMA is calling for presentations of technical papers and education sessions at COMPOSITES 2010 and has extended the deadline to August 14 for submitting abstracts.  COMPOSITES 2010 is the broadest venue for sharing research and expertise with composite industry professionals, educating peers, exchanging ideas and helping shape the future of the composites industry.
