Jimmy Johnson, the only football coach in history to win both a Super Bowl title and a national collegiate championship, and only one of four to coach back-to-back Super Bowl victories, will be this year’s keynote speaker at COMPOSITES 2002/BoatBuilding 2002 in Atlanta, September 25 – 27. The Composites Fabricators Association (CFA) and the National Marine Manufacturer’s Association (NMMA) co-sponsor the convention and trade show.

“We’re very pleased to have Coach Johnson as our keynote speaker this year,” said Jeannie McCormack, CFA’s Meetings and Exposition Director. “His record as a coach and his winning philosophy has always been respected, not only by fellow coaches and players, but those in the business community as well. He’ll fit in nicely with our program, and will capture the entrepreneurial spirit of our members, fabricators and suppliers alike. We are fortunate he is able to be with us.”

Johnson, who started his winning record as an All-Southwest Conference defensive lineman, leading the Arkansas Razorbacks to the 1964 national championship, began his coaching career as a defensive line coach right out of college in 1965 for Louisiana Tech. By 1988, after four seasons as head coach, he guided the Miami Hurricanes to a 52 – 9 record, capturing two Orange Bowl titles, a national championship in 1987, and two number 2 finishes in post-season polls. In his first head coaching job at Oklahoma State, Johnson took over a losing program and brought it to national prominence with two bowl appearances, and in 1992 and 1993, under his stewardship, the Dallas Cowboys won back-to-back Super Bowls.

COMPOSITES 2002, with BoatBuilding 2002, is the largest convention and trade show of its kind in North America. This year, estimates put number of attendees at close to 7,000 and number of exhibits more than 500.
