Ashland's FRP Supply Acts to Certify
Sales Force as Composites Technicians

January 7, 2002 (Arlington, VA) — FRP Supply, a division of the Ashland Distribution Company, recently put eight of its sales people through the Composites Fabricators Association's (CFA) Certified Composites Technician (CCT) instructor's course with the intention of eventually having them certify the company's entire sales force and technical field support team.

"Technology in the composites industry is evolving rapidly," says FRP Supply Vice President and General Manager, Judson Smith. "It is critical to keep sales personnel current with the latest trends. CFA's CCT program challenges our people to expand their knowledge, creating a value-added resource that FRP Supply can offer to customers."

CFA's CCT national program is the first of its kind in the composites industry. With courses specifically designed for general molding and marine applications, the association has so far certified 213 technicians and 19 instructors from approximately 80 companies. The instructor's course has been available since July of 2001. CFA is currently working on a Certified Composites Program for Managers (CCM) and a corrosion specialty version. CCT also is offered in Spanish. Ashland's FRP Supply Division (a CFA member) is the first distributor in North America to commit its entire composites sales force to CFA's training program.
