The Scholars Award - Winners Announced!
Dedicated service, musicianship, and missionary work overshadow the academic achievements of the 2008 American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) Interplastic-sponsored Scholars Awards. A diversity of interests exemplifies the overall high achievement of this year’s winners.
The $2,000 scholarship, intended to help cover the costs of tuition, books and/or supplies, is awarded yearly to graduating high school seniors in pursuit of a four-year degree from an accredited college or university. The emphasis on excellence in both academic and extracurricular activities, personal merit, and background is clearly recognized in each winner:
Winners were selected from more than 50 applicants by judges Terry McCabe, Interplastic Corporation; Ron Reichard, Structural Composites; Gary Whiting, Tiffany Marble; Bill Kreysler, William Kreysler & Associates; and Larry Cox, ACMA; Applicants must a graduating high school senior, and be the child or grandchild of an ACMA member company employee. Applications for the 2009 ACMA Scholars Awards will be available in the fall of 2008.
With the Western Chapter, ACMA sponsors the Western Chapter Scholarship Program, available to the employees, their spouses, and their children who are employed by an ACMA member company located in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming.
Composites Manufacturing (CM) Magazine, the official magazine of the ACMA, offers the Gary B. Multanen/CM Magazine Scholarship for students in composite-related studies. The recipient receives $1,000 towards school plus a trip to COMPOSITES & POLYCON, where he or she presents his or her research.
